{"id":966,"date":"2014-11-28T16:48:00","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T16:48:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/duncanmcneil.com\/wordpress\/?p=966"},"modified":"2014-12-17T11:12:09","modified_gmt":"2014-12-17T11:12:09","slug":"carers-rights-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/duncanmcneil.com\/wordpress\/?p=966","title":{"rendered":"Carers Rights Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">28<sup>th<\/sup> November 2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CARERS RIGHTS DAY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Local MSP Duncan McNeil spoke out on national Carers Rights Day to support Carers Scotland\u2019s campaign urging people caring for ill or disabled loved ones to find out about the financial and practical support they are entitled to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There areover <strong>8,000 carers <\/strong>in Inverclyde who provide care and support to family, friends and neighbours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Duncan McNeil MSP <strong>said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Carers are fulfilling a vital role in our society, but too often they go without the support they need because they don\u2019t know about the support available. We must all play a role in helping to identify and support people who are looking after ill, frail or disabled loved ones and making sure they get the right information and advice about the support they are entitled to as early as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Carers Scotland Director, Simon Hodgson said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCaring can be tough and finding out about what support is available can feel like finding your way through a maze of information. It\u2019s essential that carers are given information and advice to guide them early so they don\u2019t miss out on vital support.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Without help and assistance carers can find themselves facing financial hardship, health problems, emotional stress and relationship breakdown.
