{"id":597,"date":"2014-07-21T15:27:25","date_gmt":"2014-07-21T15:27:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/duncanmcneil.com\/wordpress\/?p=597"},"modified":"2014-08-06T11:31:16","modified_gmt":"2014-08-06T11:31:16","slug":"597","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/duncanmcneil.com\/wordpress\/?p=597","title":{"rendered":"TAIL O&#8217;THE BANK CREDIT UNION"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monday 21st July 2014<\/p>\n<p><strong>TAIL O&#8217; THE BANK CREDIT UNION\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I was delighted to be invited to the 30<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary celebration of the Tail O\u2019 The Bank credit union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While talking to the volunteers, we recalled the work of the Rev Ian Fraser, East End Community Minister and Father Thomas Jamieson, Parish Priest at St Lawrence\u2019s Church who joined forces with the community to bring about the east end credit union.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The old payment cards, the volunteers sitting at a table in the old St Lawrence\u2019s School.\u00a0\u00a0 This work was enhanced over many years taking the credit union from strength to strength which went on to become the Tail O\u2019 The Bank credit union that we know today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The hard work and the legacy of the founders is in good hands.\u00a0\u00a0 From a small and extremely busy office in Kilblain Street they now have four part-time members of staff who are ably supported by thirteen volunteers, who as well as giving of their free time also hold down full-time jobs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Together they are providing a great service to over 5,000 adult members and 1100 children under 18, who regularly make saving deposits.\u00a0\u00a0 But they are not resting on their laurels.\u00a0 They are ambitious and hope to reach out into workplaces and schools, which in turn will secure the future of the Tail O\u2019 The Bank credit union for the next 30 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday 21st July 2014 TAIL O&#8217; THE BANK CREDIT UNION\u00a0 I was delighted to be invited to the 30th Anniversary celebration of the Tail O\u2019 The Bank credit union.
