MSP Widens Access to Democracy with After Hours Surgery

Greenock and Inverclyde MSP, Duncan McNeil, today announced his latest initiative ensure that as many voices as possible are heard in the Scottish Parliament. To give those who cannot attend the traditional politician’s surgery a fair deal, Mr McNeil will be available to see constituents between 7pm and 8pm on 23rd November in the TESCO store in Greenock.

"Although any constituent can email, fax, telephone or write to me, many people feel that there are occasions when direct one-to-one contact is more appropriate. Holding surgeries during the day may exclude members of our community who have work or other commitments." Mr McNeil commented.

"I was elected to represent the whole of Greenock and Inverclyde – not only constituents who are available during office hours. To make our new Parliament a truly inclusive one, everyone should have equal access to his or her elected representatives.

"I am therefore today announcing that I will be holding an after hours surgery in the TESCO store in Greenock. This will hopefully allow people to discuss any issues of concern, at a time and place that is convenient for them."
