McNeil Keeps up Pressure on SFA
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, is keeping up the pressure on the Scottish Football Association to use their influence to save Morton.
He has requested a meeting with SFA Chief Executive, David Taylor, to underline the importance of the club to the community and discuss how they can work towards a solution.
Commenting, Mr McNeil said:
"During last Thursdays debate on the crisis at the club, a number of issues were raised regarding the SFA and its role in safeguarding the futures of community based clubs.
"I am therefore seeking a meeting with David Taylor at the earliest opportunity to discuss the importance of Morton to the Inverclyde community and how the Parliament and the Association can co-operate in the best interests of the club."
Mr McNeil is seeking to involve politicians from all parties in the meeting. He has already contacted MSPs from all sides of the chamber, asking if they would be willing to attend. He said:
"This is not about party politics. This is about communities and their control over their assets. I hope that a representative cross section of the Parliament can demonstrate to SFA officials the need to take decisive action."
