McNeil to Address Asbestos Rally
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, is to address rally of those fighting for justice for asbestos victims in Clydebank. Mr McNeil will be one of the several speakers from politics, the law and academia at rally, to be held in Clydebank Town Hall in the New Year.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Mr McNeil said:

"Throughout the country, victims of asbestos continue to be denied justice. The insurance companies’ delaying tactics and sharp legal practices are prolonging and frustrating the victims’ compensation claims.

"Slow progress, however, is being made. The petition submitted to the Scottish Parliament by Frank McGuire of Thomsons Solicitors is being taken very seriously by the Justice 2 Committee, which is carrying out an investigation into the issue.

"But regardless of how far we have come, there is still much work to be done.

"This meeting, therefore, will allow us to update everyone on the latest position and set out the next steps on the road towards finally delivering justice for victims of asbestos."

Notes
The meeting will be held from 10:00 to 12:00 on Friday 18th January 2002 in Clydebank Town Hall, Dunbarton Road, Clydebank.
