Council Back "Save the Rankin" Campaign

Local residents will now be able to back the "Save the Rankin" campaign at any Inverclyde Council building. Council chiefs have today confirmed that petition forms will be made available in all of Inverclyde’s public buildings.

MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, welcomed the news saying:

"This campaign is all about making the strength of local feeling on this issue crystal clear to health bosses.

"The best way to do this is to get as many signatures on our petition as possible. By making it easier for concerned local people to sign up to save the Rankin, Inverclyde Council has given us a major boost.

"If, however, you can’t make it along to any of the places in Inverclyde where you can sign the petition, simply call the campaign hotline on 01475 791 697 and a petition form will be sent to you."

Leader of Inverclyde Council, Cllr Robert Jackson, confirmed the Council’s support for the campaign, saying:

"We have an excellent maternity facility in the Rankin Unit. We believe that there should be no down-grading of maternity services in the area and want, together with the people of Inverclyde, to send this message loud and clear to the Health Board.

"That is why there is support across the Council for this campaign."
