Duncan McNeil Slams Tory Transport "Hypocrisy"

Debate on Conservative Motion on Transport

In a debate dominated by the needs of road users, Greenock and Inverclyde MSP, Duncan McNeil, made a plea on behalf of the high percentage of people within the constituency who rely on public transport. He attacked the Tory party for their hypocrisy in calling the debate, given the effects that the Tory policies of deregulation and chronic under-investment have had on public transport.

Mr McNeil’s speech was inspired by a chance meeting this morning at Greenock West Station with Mr Dempster, a disgruntled commuter whose train had failed to arrive. "I will tell [Mr Dempster] that no comfort came from the Conservatives this morning with regard to getting him from Greenock to Motherwell to work."
