Press Release

Inverclyde Companies Mean Business

Representatives from the Inverclyde business community will meet in the Chamber of the Scottish Parliament on Friday to tell MSPs how the Scottish Parliament can improve support services for Scottish business.

The "Business in the Chamber" event will bring together business people and MSPs from the Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee. Committee member and MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, commented:

"This event is part of our ongoing enquiry into the delivery of Local Economic Development Services. Our work so far has shown that support services for business and entrepreneurs are often fragmented, patchy and confusing.

"To encourage enterprise and create jobs, our local businesses must be given the support they need.

"That is why we are inviting business representatives – who are, after all, the consumers of these services – to come to the Parliament. These companies have first hand experience of the system and we are therefore extremely keen to hear their views on how it can be improved."

ENDS

The event will take place on Friday 18th February 2000 in the Chamber of the Scottish Parliament.

The representatives from Inverclyde will be:

Mr David McGinlay, Divisional Director, Garvel Clyde Ltd.

Mr Ian McGregor, Creative Director, Vested Interest Design Ltd.

Mr A Craig Shearer, Managing Director, Clairemont Electronics Ltd.
