McNeil Goes Back to School (Again)
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, will today hold another "School Surgery" in Greenock High School.
The local MSP, who has already held a similar event in Gourock High School, is looking forward to finding out what issues are concerning or interesting young people in Inverclyde. Commenting on the initiative, he said:
"It is my responsibility to ensure that politics and politicians do not seem remote to sections of our community. That includes young people - the decisions taken in Holyrood affect them as much as the rest of us.
"As I have said time and again, the success of the Scottish Parliament depends on all sections of the community being involved and having their say. I was elected to represent everyone in Greenock and Inverclyde - not just those old enough to vote.
"That is why I am holding another school surgery. I am interested in the views of local young people. What concerns them? What interests them? What are their fears? What are their hopes? And what, above all, do they want the Parliament to do for them?"
After the surgery Mr McNeil will give a short talk to S3 pupils, followed by a question and answer session with S6 students.
ENDS
Notes:
The surgery will run from 09:30 to 11:00 in Greenock High School.
