McNeil Welcomes Extension of Drug Treatment Orders to Greenock
MSP for Greenock & Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, has welcomed today’s announcement that Drug Treatment and Testing Orders are to be made available to Greenock Sheriff Court.
He said:
"From addicts and their families, to the victims of muggers, no-one is immune from the effects of drugs.
"Reducing levels of drug abuse and protecting the wider community from drug related crime must be our priorities. I believe that Drug Treatment and Testing Orders – by placing offenders on specialist treatment programmes with strict monitoring and penalties for contravention – will help us work towards this. "
