Action on Knife Crime - Sign the Petition

 I, the undersigned:

• Recognise that knife-related deaths account for more than 50% of all recorded homicides in Scotland;

• Believe that action must be taken to challenge knife crime and the knife carrying culture that blights many communities in Scotland; and

• Request that the Scottish Executive moves forward with action on this matter as a matter of urgency.

I  therefore demand that the Scottish Executive:

• Doubles the maximum sentence for carrying a knife in public;

• Gives the police unconditional powers to arrest those suspected of carrying a knife;

• Increases the minimum age for buying a knife from 16 to 18;

• Introduces a licensing scheme for the sale of knives; and

• Bans the sale of swords.
