Plans for more trains

Plans to introduce trains between Inverclyde’s Gourock and Wemyss Bay lines have been confirmed by ScotRail.

The confirmation follows representations made by local MSP Duncan McNeil to enhance the service.

The Labour politician made representations as part of his campaign to improve local transport services.

The MSP has welcomed the news saying that the increase in trains will give people greater access to employment and business opportunities.

Greenock and Inverclyde MSP Duncan McNeil said:

“I welcome the response from ScotRail to my representation. An enhanced train service will provide a stimulus for the local economy and will give the people of Gourock and Wemyss Bay improved access to employment and business opportunities. I looked forward to progress being made on these plans and hope that Transport Scotland will give the final confirmation as soon as possible.
