Have your say, urges MSP
People and communities across Inverclyde are being asked how lottery money should be spent.
The Big Lottery Fund has launched a Scotland-wide public consultation, Big Thinking, calling on people to share their views on how the organisation builds for the future.
Local MSP Duncan McNeil is urging people to get involved in the process to ensure funds go to the right place.
He is writing to charities and voluntary groups to ensure they make the most of the opportunity and win much-needed funding awards to Inverclyde.
Mr McNeil said: “Historically, this area has not been able to attract as much funds as it should despite our disproportionate need.
“Often those who know the system best or know how to articulate their bid better can win funding over possibly more deserving causes.
“While I have worked along with others to ensure Inverclyde doesn’t lose out, I see this as a perfect opportunity to redress that balance and I hope many of our groups will take part.”
Big Lottery Fund Scotland chair Alison Magee, said: “Big Thinking will give the Scottish public, charities, voluntary groups and our other stakeholder groups the opportunity to help us shape our work between 2009 and 2015.
“By getting involved in our consultation they will help to ensure that we make the biggest impact with the Lottery pound over the next six years.
Full details of the consultation can be found on the dedicated website: www.big-thinking.org.uk.
