NHS cuts 'devastating'
Following the announcement that 1,200 jobs were to be axed at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board, including more than 600 nurses and midwives, Duncan McNeil MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde said:
"This announcement is devastating for patients and staff – you cannot axe 650 nurses and midwives without undermining patient care.
"The promises by the Scottish Government in Edinburgh to protect frontline services before the election now ring very hollow as they cut away at the NHS.
"I will be writing to the Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon asking her to spell out exactly what this means for patients in Inverclyde."
