Holyrood Open for Business
The Scottish Parliament was open late for business earlier this month, when MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, welcomed members of the Greenock Chamber of Commerce for an evening at Holyrood. Greenock Chamber of Commerce at the Scottish Parliament

After a presentation and question & answer session with a senior parliament procurement official on how the Scottish Parliament does business, representatives of the local business community were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the new Scottish Parliament building by Mr McNeil.  The evening was rounded off with dinner in the Members’ Restaurant.

“I was delighted to welcome the local chamber to the parliament,” Mr McNeil said afterwards,  “I hope they found it an informative and productive evening – and that it was enjoyable too.

“The business and political worlds shouldn’t be strangers.  The actions in one sphere impact in the other, so it is important that, through events like this, we develop a good understanding of each other’s perspectives.”

Chamber of Commerce Executive Administrator, Hugh Bunten, added:

“It was a splendid  afternoon and evening at The Scottish Parliament.  It’s an  awesome building.   The food was splendid, the presentation by Veronique was first class and the tour was really appreciated and enjoyed by all of us.  It really was a great event.   Everybody commented very favourably and had a wonderful  time.”
