Keep an Eye Out for Your Neighbours this
Winter – McNeil
MSP for
Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, is urging his constituents to
look out for their neighbours over the winter months and make sure they know who
to contact if things go wrong.
With
the Met Office predicting that the exceptionally wet start to December will be
followed in
the coming weeks by a
drop in temperature, Mr McNeil said it was important for communities to
ensure that vulnerable neighbours, particularly the elderly, are coping with the
conditions.
“It’s
important,” he said today, “that we know who to contact if we need help
with, say, a
medical problem or flooding.
We also need to be aware of the facts about keeping warm while conserving
energy.
“On
top of that, though, the most important thing you can do this winter is to look
out for your neighbours,
particularly vulnerable and elderly neighbours.
Keep an eye on whether they’re
opening and closing their curtains; maybe drop in now and then to make sure
they’re OK and to see if they
need anything.”
