James Watt Music Centre to Hit Right Note
with Minister
Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport, Patricia Ferguson, will see for
herself the exciting work being done at James Watt College's state-of-the-art
Music & Arts Centre this Friday (22nd April 2005).
The Minister accepted an invitation from MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, to visit the new Greenock facility during a recent debate in the Scottish Parliament on the Scottish contemporary music industry.
Mr McNeil says he is confident that the Minister will impressed by the way in which the college helps support and develop Scottish musical talent:
"If the Minister wants to know how we can support and develop the undoubted raft of raw musical talent we have here in Scotland, she's coming to the right place," he said.
"She will see how the college makes it
easier for young musicians to take the all-important first step into the
professional music industry by providing them with performance facilities and
some basic business skills. She will also see how they are helping
students develop, not just their musical skills, but the essential life skills
which will be essential if they are to enjoy long, fulfilled careers."
