McNeil
Backs Telegraph Dental Registration Campaign
MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan
McNeil, is backing the Telegraph’s
campaign to get local children registered with a dentist.
Mr McNeil, who is also a
member of Holyrood’s Health Committee, said today:
“We know – many of us to
our cost – the perils of not going to the dentist regularly and preferring to
wait until we’re climbing the walls with pain before darkening the surgery
door. We can’t let our children
follow our bad example.
“The biggest reason for
Scottish children being anaesthetised today is for the extraction of rotten
teeth. No-one would want to put
their children through that unnecessarily, so it’s vital we get our kids into
the habit of regular visits to the dentist.
“Too many parents, though,
don’t know how, when and with whom to register their child and I’m delighted
that the Telegraph is tackling this
problem head-on. So, if your
new baby or child isn’t registered with a dentist, get the form on this page
filled in. It’ll take 2 minutes,
cost nothing and minimise your child’s risk of suffering from painful problems
in later life.”
