Volunteer
Nominations for Royal Award
The
people of Greenock and Inverclyde have the chance to nominate the local
voluntary organisations which make a real difference for a prestigious award.
MSP
for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, is urging his constituents to
nominate the group they feel is most deserving of recognition for the Queen’s
Award for Voluntary Service.
He
said:
“Volunteers
do some very valuable work in our community.
I see it firsthand as an MSP, but also in everyday life.
I can think of a number of excellent local organisations to whom my
family and I are indebted.
“The
volunteers who freely give their time to provide these services don’t seek
material reward or public plaudits, but to receive a prestigious award such as
this, or even to be nominated, lets them know how much their contribution is
valued.
“So,
if there’s one particular volunteer-run service in Inverclyde which has made a
real difference to you or your family, why not help get them the recognition
they deserve by nominating them for a Queen’s Award?”
The
Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is bestowed by HM The Queen in recognition
of excellence in undertaking activities by groups in the community.
The awards are given for outstanding achievement by groups of volunteers
who regularly devote their time to help others and improve the quality of life
and opportunities of others.
Copies
of the official nomination form are available from Mr McNeil’s constituency
office (791820) or online at: www.queensawardvoluntary.gov.uk
Nominations
close on 30th September 2005.
