See your Way Clear to a Free Eye Test
All Inverclyde residents now have access to a free and more comprehensive eye examination.

MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde, Duncan McNeil, says not only will the free tests keep your eyes sharp, they will also help detect the symptoms of diabetes or increasingly common eye problems, such as early stage cataracts.

The eye examinations will be completely free of charge and available to all.

Speaking while visiting local optician, Reid McKellar, in West Blackhall Street, Mr McNeil said:

“I am delighted that free eye tests for all are now here.  The fact that people will benefit, free of charge, from a full assessment – not just a basic sight test – is even better news.  It will allow for the treatment of a wide range of conditions in the community.”

This scheme is part of the Vision 2020 declaration of eliminating avoidable blindness by the year 2020.
