Communities Committee
The Committee discussed the leak of its report on the Antisocial Behaviour etc. (Scotland) Bill and took Stage 1 evidence on the Fire Sprinklers in Residential Premises (Scotland) Bill.

 

Education Committee
Stage 2 of the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Bill continued.

 

Enterprise & Culture Committee
Enterprise companies and business organisations gave evidence on Broadband in Scotland.

 

Equal Opportunities Committee
The Committee heard from its Disability Reporter and considered a report from its Gender Reporter.  It agreed to write to the Minister for Communities in relation to the display of pornographic images in retail outlets. Finally, the Committee considered an issues paper on its disability inquiry.

 

Finance Committee
Tuesday’s meeting considered a paper by the Budget Adviser and SPICe on the Scottish Executive's spending trends in relation to the Budget Process 2005/06.

The Committee also considered its draft report on the Fire Sprinklers in Residential Premises (Scotland) Bill and the draft report of its investigation into Scottish Water. These two items were taken in private.

 

Justice 1 Committee
The Committee took evidence from Deputy Justice Minister, Hugh Henry and the Scottish Prison Service on the implications of the Northern Ireland Bill which makes provision for the transfer of some prisoners from Northern Ireland to Scotland.  It also considered the Criminal Procedure (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill at Stage 2.

 

Justice 2 Committee
Members took evidence on the UK Constitutional Reform Bill from Lord President, Lord Cullen.

 

Local Government and Transport Committee
The draft Stage 1 report on the Local Governance (Scotland) Bill was discussed.

 

Standards Committee
Last week’s meeting agreed to adopt the recommendations of the previous Standards Committee on remuneration and sponsorship and decided to consider further the Committee’s other recommendations. The Committee also endorsed the Standards Commissioner’s draft Information Strategy, agreed a submission on standards for the Welsh Assembly and considered a paper on procedures for dealing with correspondence outlining complaints against Members.

 

Subordinate Legislation Committee
The Committee considered the responses from the Scottish Executive to further points raised on the Tenements (Scotland) Bill, the Debt Arrangement Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and the Private Hire Vehicles (Carriage of Guide Dogs) Act 2002.

The Committee also considered the Primary Medical Services (Scotland) Act 2004 (Modification of Enactments) Order 2004, the Road Traffic (NHS Charges) Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2004 and the Sea Fishing (Restriction on Days at Sea) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2004.
