A short briefing this week as the Committees get into full swing on Tuesday for the first time since June.
Transport and the Environment
The committee convened last week to discuss its draft report on the Stage 1 (general principles) of the Transport Bill. The full debate will take place on the morning of Thursday 14th September.
The Committee will hear evidence today on genetically modified organisms as part of its enquiry.
It will also consider petitions on agri-environment measures, aircraft taking-off routes at Edinburgh Airport and ice cream van safety.
Enterprise and Lifelong Learning
Also meets today and will be considering its role in the Education Committees inquiry into this years school exam results.
It will also take evidence from local enterprise companies on its inquiry into the impact of the New Economy, and consider its draft report on the Transport Bill.
Social Inclusion, Housing and Voluntary Sector
The committee met yesterday and heard evidence from Angus Mackay for their inquiry into Drug Misuse and Deprived Communities.
This was the final session of evidence in the inquiry, and the report of the inquiry is expected to be published in early October.
Justice and Home Affairs
The committee meets on Wednesday and will take evidence from Angus Mackay and Jim Wallace on progress to date and future plans of the Scottish Executive Justice Department.
It will also consider a report from Maureen Macmillan on a proposed Protection from Abuse Bill, and its inquiry into legal aid and access to justice.
Education, Culture and Sport
Meets today and will be considering an inquiry into this years school exam results.
The committee is also hearing reports on Sport in Schools and its Special Educational Needs Inquiry. Meanwhile, the discussion over the Roman remains at Cramond continues.
European Committee
Committee members meet today to continue their discussion on their draft report produced from their inquiry into "European Structural Funds and their Implementation in Scotland."
Finance Committee
Also in the structural funds vein, the committee will meet today to hear a progress report on its inquiry into the funds.
Local Government
Takes evidence today from Frank McAveety on the Executives response to the McIntosh Report. The committee will also take evidence from COSLA on Local Government Funding Requirements 2001/2-2003/4, together with petitions on the planning system.
Rural Affairs Committee
Meets today and is currently looking at Stage 1 evidence on the Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Bill. In addition, petitions relating to the bill and the recent developments on Shellfish Poisoning will be considered.
Standards
At its meeting today, the committee is expected to agree the appointment of a recommended candidate as the temporary Standards Advisor. The Advisor is temporary until the committee has decided how it will enforce the MSPs Code of Conduct.
Health & Community Care
On Wednesday the committee will hear evidence for its Community Care Inquiry.
